After more than 24 hours of travel and meeting time, David has finally arrived in Chile at a place where he could drop his bags and get some sleep. He called last evening, pretty tired from the trip. He said that he was pretty certain he was in Chile, although when he turned on his cell phone he was greeted with a text ..."Welcome to China." I was so excited to hear from him that I forgot the one thing I wanted to tell him - SEND PICTURES!!!
The flights that were planned (or not) for today had to be cancelled due to a mix up that resulted in no chase trucks, along with having no proper propane fittings to fuel the balloons. "Maybe tomorrow" seems to be the typical cultural reaction to planning problems. In the meantime, David can walk to the beach from his room and is enjoying a local jazz festival and craft show there. His cabana doesn't have internet, but the folks at the office there have offered to let him use theirs.
It's summer in Chile, a fact that adds to my envy as I spent Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning shoveling snow. Maybe tomorrow...

Hoping I can persuade David to bring me back a ziplock baggie of sand from Chilie. Dont have any sand from there yet! :)
ReplyDelete(snack baggie size) Way to go David! Glad you made it! :)
Safe travels, hopefully the flights will happen soon, but in the mean time the beach and jazz aren't too bad.
